We asked a simple question: What does the future of work for REFUGEES look like?
To find the answer(s), we engaged with the Refugees, Coordinators and Camp Managers at Egyeikrom Refugee Camp, Central Region, with approval from Ghana Refugee Board.
Our purpose for the working visit to the Refugee Camp was to improve Refugees’ economic self-reliance by facilitating access to income generating opportunities. We assessed the skill-set of the Refugees and plan to use the data to provide opportunities for inclusive employment.
From our extensive engagement, we deduced 4 main areas that need attention;
- Skills development
- Jobs/access to market
- Working space set-up
- Education and Language barrier.
We took the time to educate some of the Refugees on how to develop their skills, grow their businesses and penetrate the market. They found it very useful.
We call on vocational institutions, organizations and entrepreneurs join us as we continue to work towards scaling up and improving Refugees economic self-reliance in the 4 aforementioned areas.
Special thanks to our passionate hub members, Ghana Refugee Board and ADRA for the approval, support and warm reception.
